Getting Started
Create your first FanficLab audio drama from an existing fic scene, with optional character voice or image references.
This guide covers the shortest path from a fic scene to your first audio drama performance.
1. Open the Studio
Go to Text to Audio Drama. Sign in with the same account you plan to use for credits and My Creations.
2. Paste one scene
Add the exact excerpt you want to hear. Fic text is the only required input, and the current limit is 2,800 characters per generation.
Choose a focused moment with a clear emotional beat. Missing scenes, canon divergence, hurt/comfort, slow-burn payoffs, and excerpts from one-shots or WIPs can all work; you do not need to change your prose into screenplay format.
Dialogue and narration can appear in the same excerpt. Keep useful paragraph breaks and punctuation so pauses, interruptions, and shifts in pace remain visible.
3. Choose a reference mode
You can generate from text alone, or select one optional reference mode:
- Audio: name up to three character roles and upload one voice reference for each role you want to guide.
- Image: upload one image to guide the atmosphere of the performance.
- None: let the scene text guide the cast and sound on its own.
Audio and image references cannot be used together in the same generation. See References and Characters for details.
4. Generate and listen
Review the credit cost shown on the Generate button, then submit the scene. Under normal conditions, most scenes finish in under five minutes, although longer inputs or a busy queue may take more time.
Keep the task open while it processes. When the preview is ready, listen to the full result. Signed-in users can also return to completed and recent tasks from My Creations.
Avoid submitting duplicate copies while a task is still processing. If something fails or does not appear, use Troubleshooting.
What FanficLab does not do
No AI-generated fanfiction: FanficLab does not write, continue, rewrite, or plot fic. It performs the existing scene you provide.
